SUMMER SCHOOL OF EARLY IRISH HARP

CLASS TUITION

With groups of 4-12 students, these tuition periods provide the most intensive practical tuition at Scoil na gCláirseach.

This year's classes are grouped as follows:

Basic tunes and techniques: This class will suit absolute beginners, those who have not been playing very long or those who prefer to work on the basics at a slower pace.

Advanced tunes and arrangements: This class will suit most players of some expertise who want intensive 'hands-on' playing time in class.

Historical sources and theoretical background: This class emphasises the sources for the historical harp music, whether manuscripts, early printed books, or archive recordings of traditional singers and musicians.

Songs: New for 2015 This new class will run as a parallel stream to the harp classes, and is aimed at singers who most likely do not also play the harp. The classes will study the Gaelic song traditions from a historical perspective.
